Curriculum Overview

The curriculum at Brookdale Primary School is firmly rooted in the vision, mission and core values.

School Vision Statement - Inspiring, engaging and nurturing our children to achieve and flourish as citizens of today and the future.

School Mission Statement- Motto - Together we Believe, Progress, Succeed

Our Core School Values - Respect, determination, teamwork, friendship, responsibility and compassion.

Subjects are brought together through the use of highly engaging, enjoyable, well-chosen texts enabling children to learn about and from the world in which they live. A mastery approach allows deep learning and progress through practice, refining ideas, asking questions and responding to feedback. The curriculum recognises when the acquisition of knowledge is important and that from this knowledge children are given the opportunity to develop skills and in turn deepen their understanding.

Children are guided and cultivated to become better learners through a school culture of growth mindset. The key features of this culture allow children to develop habits and attitudes to support them when facing difficulty and mistakes.

At Brookdale Primary School the curriculum is designed to leave children with; a love of learning, an understanding of how to learn and the knowledge and skills to set them up for their next stage of learning.
